Hey what's up everyone hope you're all doing good! This week was actually wild there was so much that happened so this is actually gonna be really long lol.
So first off, on Monday, we had like one of the best lessons of my entire mission. So we met with Marco again which is the guy I talked about last week and we talked to him about the plan of salvation. There was a big group of people in the room and we only knew a few of them. He was stoked to hear about eternal families and everything we told him. Then we talked to him about baptism and he said he still wants to really bad and said that his brother in law also wanted to get baptized, and then he pointed to some guy on the couch in front of him. I asked his name and he said his name's Dier and his wife is a member but he's not. I asked if he wanted to get baptized and he said yes. Then he points to a kid next to him and says, "also I want my son to get baptized too." I asked how old he was and he said he's 8 and I said, "do you wanna get baptized too?" And he said yes. Then, the 8 year old kid Dayron, stands up and says, "I have part of the Book of Mormon memorized." I said, "let's hear it." Then this 8 year old kid literally recited the entire introduction of the Book of Mormon on the spot. I swear on my life. Then he recited all of the books in the Book of Mormon in order. It was wild. I didn't even know he'd gone to church before. I was so shook. So that was super cool lesson. They just gotta get married but they're actually stoked to get married which is lit.
Then on Tuesday we had our baptismal interview for Hocsy and he passed!! Also we had our transfer call that night and we found out I'd be going back to Piura and Elder Townsend would be staying in Paita. I knew we'd get separated but I was still so sad. I had so much fun with him. Best part of my mission by far. He's one of the best friends I've ever made. Elder Townsend I know you're reading this and I love and miss you man.
Then Wednesday we had a leadership meeting over zoom in the morning and right after that, we had a lesson with Marco and talked to him and his fam for a little bit and I told them I'd be leaving the next day. It was super sad cause I was trying not to cry and they were all thanking me and bearing their testimony to me. Then I look at Elder Townsend and he had tears dripping down his face:( I was like dude you're not even leaving lol. Then they made us lunch and then I went and said bye to a few more members and Elder Townsend cried at every one of them haha. I did a little bit too. I can't explain how much I love that ward. My favorite ward of my whole mission. Then we went to fill the font for Hocsy and there wasn't water AGAIN so we had to do it at another church. The baptism went great and right afterwards at like 8:30, out of nowhere, we decided to go buzz Elder Townsend's head lol. Had to do it on the last day together. Then we went and said bye to bishop and his family and that was the hardest one. One of my favorite families ever. I did cry a little and of course Elder Townsend was bawling. Poor guy cried all day. We left at like 11 and then I literally had barely started packing, so I packed until 2am.
Then we got up at 5 and went to the bus station and said bye to Elder Townsend and cried like half the bus ride lol. Then I got to my area with my new comp Elder Pratt! We're in Castilla in the area Los Pinos which is the biggest ward in the mission. My comp is 5'3 115 pounds and he's from Aberdeen Idaho. He's a dog. We stayed the first night with my boy Elder Austin and a few other Elders. Then we were supposed to have a baptism on Saturday for our friend Amy and bishop totally ruined it. He said she's not ready and he doesn't want her to get baptized yet even though she's gone to church 6 times in a row and passed her interview. We were SOOO mad. We had the font filled and everything. There was no reason not to. But he ended up not doing it and so we started off on bad terms with bishop lol. We brought him 3 cakes and I think he still doesn't like us. It's ok though cause she'll get baptized this week.
I'm having a ton of fun here though and it's such a good area. Ive made a bunch of good friends and I'm really excited! I got a guy named Manuel who's 65 who's getting baptized this week and he's WILD. He taught me karate and we fight everytime we see each other. He always rubs my forehead with his thumb and says, "you're wise." I love him.
