CANCHAQUE

This past week has been super good!! It was Halloween last week and I guess they don't celebrate that here lol. I asked a bunch of kids if they were excited for Halloween and they all told me me, "no why would I be excited, only Satanists and witches celebrate it." These kids have no idea the joy of when a random guy drops a king sized Snickers in your pillow case, or seeing a bowl of candy on a front porch unattended lol.

We met this new family who's super cool!! Their names are Henry, Emiliano, Renato, Roxanna, and Blanca. We had a super good lesson with them on Saturday and then Saturday night we called and invited them to church and Henry said, "oh ya I was gonna ask you guys if we could go, but since you didn't invite us in the lesson, I assumed we weren't allowed to go." We were like, "NO BRO YOU CAN COME!" And he was so hyped and he came with all of his fam!

Then Monday morning for pday, me and my comp got up at 4 AM and headed to this little city called Canchaque. It was a 2 and a half hour ride and Canchaque is like the tourist spot of northern Peru. Comp got a little car sick on the ride there and almost threw up, but we got there, and it was SOOO PRETTY!! If you're not awarre, my mission is just one huge desert. A bunch of sand and that's it. So seeing all this green was INSANE!! We went on a hike to the top of a mountain and WOWWW IT WAS SICK! Then I was on FaceTime with my fam and dropped my phone and shattered the screen and it didn't work anymore lol. So I didn't have a phone for the rest of the day. Then we met 2 teenagers and an old guy that just loved us! They showed us around everywhere and would tell everyone, "hey we got some broke, white Americans who want food, give em free food." Then they tried finding a place for me to fix my phone screen, but we couldn't find one. We walked for like 2 hours with them and then I bought them ice cream and we left. I was crammed on the ride back with some Peruvian and we kinda fell asleep on each other and accidentally cuddled a little bit. 10/10 nap. I got my phone fixed yesterday night so we're all good now!

Me and my comp made chocolate chip banana bread this week and it was FIRE! Then we ate the whole thing in 20 minutes and made another one. I miss my moms food.
