MY UÑERO
Alright I'm just gonna start right into what happened this week. So we had the fourth of July the past week and obviously in in Peru so they don't celebrate that. So I put together my own fourth of July dinner with watermelon, a hamburger, fries, chips, and ice cream. It was great. Then I just had to pretend there were fireworks going on outside.
So this past week I had an ingrown toenail that was really bad. Like I couldn't even walk cause it hurt like crazy. So I went and got it removed, and WOW it hurt so bad. First the lady had to numb my toe with like liquid nitrogen or whatever that really cold water is called. Then she pulled out this foot long needle that was straight out of a horror movie. I don't know why she needled a needle the size of my head just to go into my toe. This was the worst part and I started screaming lol. Then I told myself in my head "bro you're a missionary, you can't scream like this." So then I ended up screaming the song "I am a child of god" in spanish. Then the lady asked what song I just screamed and I told her about the song and our church and shared a message while she was just cutting away at my toe. Now I'm pretty sure she's talking with our missionaries where she lives. I felt pretty good about that one. I also got to wear Crocs for three days afterwards which was sick. It was a win win.
So I shared how a super drunk guy bought me and my comp dinner last week. He qas like shoving his beer bottle into my hands and arms and trying to force me to drink it. In the moment I was gonna be rude and tell him to leave us alone, but I was patient and kept talking with him about why I don't drink and how it's a commandment. Then next day, I saw him in the street and he asked dif I remembered him and I said yes. He kinda apologized for what he had done to me and he said he wanted out help and how he wants to quit alcohol and it's ruining his life. Now we're teaching him the lessons!! It's so cool how he's changed from hearing our message and me being patient with him.
Spiritual thought: It's been amazing as a missionary to see the joy people have when they turn to Christ and accept our message. It's easy in life to look away from christ and try go find joy somewhere else, but it's impossible. The only way we can having lasting joy, is through Christ. People think they've found joy in other things that aren't good, but it's not joy. And to see people who have never had real joy in their life and accept the gospel and see what it's really like is amazing. That's why people change in this gospel. Because we are the only people in the world with joy. It's sad that such a small number of the people have joy, but that's why we need to get out there and share it more!! :)
