BATH IN BAPTISMAL FONT

YOOOOO WHATS UP!!! First off today is a MONUMENTAL DAY!!! One year ago today I received my call to serve as a representative of Christ and received my absolute DREAM ASSIGNMENT to the beautiful, hot, humid, desert, stinky, and PERFECT assignment to serve in Piura, Perú!! My biggest dream ever since I was a kid and hearing my dad tell me all his mission stories and wanting to be just like him, AND HERE I AM!! The most amazing decision I have EVER MADE!!

Sooo in our apartment our water hasn't been working since Saturday night so we've had no running water for 5 days lol. Sunday and Monday I didn't shower at all and it was nasty, so I told myself I couldn't not shower another day. So yesterday morning I had a fire idea, why not bathe in the baptismal font. At first I was thinking "ight ya this could be apostate, but then I thought, I think it's better to bathe in the font than to stink like crazy. So I did it. We went to the church and I brought my louffa, shampoo, body wash, and I even shaved in the font lol. It was pretty lit and I definitely forget it. And this morning we didnt get to shower at all again. This is starting to become a problem lol.

I also taught a English class by myself on Friday which I was actually like pooping my pants beforehand cause I was so nervous but wow it was so fun. I swear to you they didn't know a lick of English. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to literally pronounce "thank you". They struggle like crazy with the sounds "j", "th", and "r cause they don't use those sounds in spanish. It was so fun and for the first time I felt so smart and I was the one who knew the language which felt GREAT!

The other day I was walking and a big group of kids stopped me and started talking to me and one of the asked where I was from and I said the united states and they absolutely lost their minds. They all started SCREAMING. I was so confused lol and I said, "have you never seen someone from the United States before?" And they said, "no we've only ever heard of them!!!" I talked with them for like thirty minutes just translating words and they asked so many questions like, "how big is your house?" "Do you have a swimming pool at your house?" "How rich are you?" And then at one point they asked lime 4 questions in a row that I didn't understand in spanish so I just said "sí" to all of them and everytime I answered, they all freaked out. So I was thinking, "frick, what am u saying yes to??" Then I understood the next question and realized I had told them that I was best friends with Lionel Messi and that we hang out all the time lol. It was too late to take it back so u just had to roll with it. They almost cried when I gave them pictures of Jesus from the United States and were freaking out that all my stuff was from there. I convinced them that I can travel to the future with my watch too lol. Then whenever I tried to leave, they'd all hug my and said "I love you please come back!!" And then they'd follow me and repeat like 5 or 6 times until they stopped lol. It was the cutest thing ever.

Also I was at lunch with a family the other day and the guy looked at me and noticed that I was just absolutely drenched in sweat and said, "oh are you a little hot." And I said, "ya it is a little hot here, I just need to cut my hair and that'll help." And he said, "oh I'm a barber, I'll give you a cut right now." I said, "ok". Then we went downstairs and he gave me a cut and was talking about how he's cut hair for 30 years and he's the best barber ever and I told him only to take like an inch and a half off all around my head and he said, "oh ya I know, whatever you say, I'll do." I then watched about 4 inches of hair land on my lap. I was like bro what is this. Dude proceeded to give me a literal mowhawk. And he then asked how my first haircut in Peru looked and I literally had to hold in the tears and say, "ya I love it."

Spiritual thought: I've been thinking a lot about a quote that I heard from I think Elder Holland that I need to get better at. He talked about how sometimes we see one of the restrictions or guidelines or the church that we don't agree with and we don't like and we complain about it and say, "this is dumb, there's no reason to follow this its not important, why would we have this restriction." But it's important to remember the fact that this is the church of Jesus Christ. This is his church. He has given us all of these restrictions and guidelines through prophets and apostles. So the next time you want to say or think, "why would they give us this guideline?" Replace the sentence with, "why would Jesus Christ give me this guideline." It has helped me a lot with not complaining and understanding the reason behind everything and that this truly is the only church of Jesus Christ. It blows me away how lucky I am to be in THE church of Jesus Christ. What an amazing blessing we all have.

I love it here, I love this work, I love Christ, and I love you all!!!(especially Luke) read the Book of Mormon!!
