SOMEONE TURN DOWN THE HEAT!!!
What's up guys!! SECOND WEEK IN PERU DONE LETS GOOOO!!!! Yo it's so crazy here oh my gosh. This place is so nuts I can't believe I actually made it. I've been dreaming about being here since May 11 2022 when I got assigned here so THIS IS LIT!!
I'm still struggling with the food and heat here big time lol. My stomach is absolutely destroyed every day which was been brutal. I eat the same exact lunch every day so it makes it tougher haha. You know the feeling where u eat a food and it makes you super sick so like afterwards u just can't eat the food anymore cause it makes u sick everytime and it just sounds super gross to u now? Maybe that only happens with me but that has happened with the food here lol. It wrecks me. I've got some getting used to to do. So it's also like 90-95 degrees outside and our apartment is like 100 degrees without AC and our bathroom is like 105 degrees bro I swear there's like a freaking hidden heater in that room. And I be living in that room so I'm fr just beggin for mercy in that bathroom all day everyday. Drenched head to toe in sweat. Love this place so much though.
I forgot to say last email but I'm district leader here which is pretty sick. It's not super different but it is pretty hype. We also have Rats living in our ceiling at our apartments and we just here them running around above us and I swear those things are the size of dogs. They like dent the ceiling tiles where they run. I swear if one of them falls through I'm straight up dolphin diving out of the third story window. I also forgot to put bug spray one just one of my feet one night and woke up with 14 bug bites just on my left foot. They just straight munching on me.
I got super sick a few nights ago and literally was just on my death bed and couldn't sleep. I layed there trying to sleep and thought "go to your happy place, if you could be anywhere right now where would it be?" I imagined myself eating chic fil a with my little cousin Abby girl. I fell right to sleep. Mom or dad if you're reading this tell her to ft me and I miss her. Also another night this week, the power went out in the middle of the night so my fan that I blast on my face while I sleep turned off. I woke up at like 3 AM dazed, confused, dripping sweat and realized that it was off and the power was out. I layer there the rest of the night drenched in sweat couldn't sleep. I realized how blessed I am to have that little crappy fan cause I would be in a coffin without it. I'll drop a pic of it. The love of my life
Anyways lol, we got 7 of our friends at church this week which was so cool!! We're baptizing two of our friends this week which is so awesome! We have soo many people we're teaching and it's been so fun to stay busy! ITS SO FUN HERE!!
Sometimes I'm here and I think that I have the worst living conditions ever, then I realize how lucky I am. This is exactly what I wanted in my mission. To struggle a lot. And I really am haha, but I'm learning so much. I realize how much I have back home that I take advantage of and how blessed I am. And the fact that I have the opportunity to be here learning this language with the most amazing people sharing the most important thing in the world is awesome. I WOULDNT BE HAPPIER ANYWHERE ELSE!! So humbling.
Also shoutout my boy Elder Austin here in the mission, I'm literally serving 4000 miles away from home WITH MY BEST FRIEND!! Who else can say that?? But dude got the worst haircut known to man this week lol. I'll drop a pic.
Spiritual thought: I was thinking back to an experience I had in Arizona and how profound it was. I used to bike all day every day and one day I was biking straight into the wind and I was thinking, "oh my gosh why do I feel like I'm always biking into the wind, I NEVER am biking with the wind. It's so much harder." Then I started thinking, "there's no way I've never biked with the wind." Then I looked back to the past and noticed all the times where I was really biking with the wind. And from that point forward I always would look for and notice the times where I biked with the wind and how much easier it was. Sometimes I feel like we do that in life. We always feel like we're biking into the wind but never notice all the times where we've been biking with the wind. Everyone, look for times in your life where you've gone with the wind and from now on, notice the moments where God is pushing you along!!
