I'M HERE!!!!
YOOOO WHATS UP EVERYONE!! It had actually happened, I made it to Peru!!! Its so wild here oh my gosh I dont even know where to start!! If i could describe it in one word I'd say it is literally the hottest place in the world. It is not even funny how hot it is. Like it's only 90-95 which isn't bad but the humidity is INSANE!!!! I kid you not, from the second I got off the plane, I have not stopped sweating. Now you might be reading this thinking that I'm just trying to be funny or making a joke. I swear I am not. I am dripping wet 24/7. Ight I'm gonna start at the beginning of the week though.
So I flew from Phoenix to New York City and met a bunch of other missionaries there who are going to Peru and we had like a 5 hour layover so we all played card games which was lit. Then we flew to Lima and had another long layover, then we flew to Piura. In total it wad like 30 hours of traveling which was brutal, BUT SO WORTH IT. I got off the plane here and boom, I'm soaking wet, and have been since that moment. We went to the mission home and I saw my boy Jase which was so lit. 4000 miles from home and we're still together. We had ceviche which was fire and then stayed at the scariest hotel ever but it was fire. The next day we got our comps and mine is Elder Lopez and he speaks zero English which is lit. He's so funny, I love him.
I can't lie, there have been moments where I genuinely thought to myself, "I think I'm going to die of heat." Like dead serious it's insane. We also don't have AC or hot water, we just have this tiny fan and when I come home dripping sweat and put my face right up to the fan as it blows hot stinky air into my face. Such a blessing. It is so tough without AC though cause if you think about back home if it's super hot outside and you get super hot, you know that it'll be ok cause once u get home, you'll cool off from the AC. I don't have that here. I have like nothing to look forward to to cool me off. I would do anything for AC. No joke. I also got sick the past couple days because I was mad dehydrated. I sweat like crazy but the water here is super gross and I can only get myself to drink it if I plug my nose. I was mad sick and then I bought a gallon of purified water yesterday and downed the gallon in like 2 hours and I feel WAY better. Also the bugs are insane. Call me Shaq cause I counted 32 mosquito bites on my body lol. Our apartment is full of them.
I genuinely do love it here though I'm bot trying to just complain about it, it's just SO different and I want to show you all back home how nice you have it. It's just a big change for sure. The other day, we walked past a soccer field with a ton of kids playing and they saw that I was tall and white so they asked me to come play. I played with them and then I spun the ball on my finger and they were all shook and then like 20 kids gathered around as I would spin the ball on my finger and then put it on there finger. They LOVED it. Then i gave them all a picture of Jesus and they were so hyped. They all wanted us to teach their parents which was hype.
We also had zone conference this week which meant 12 straight hours of Spanish which was brutal. I actually had a ton of people tell me my Spanish is really good which is hype. At the end of zone conference though, my comp smashed a cake in my face cause I guess that's tradition for new missionaries. Idk but it was pretty funny.
So much happened but I don't want to make this super long lol so I'll probably just end it there. I actually love it here so much and can't wait to work and get used to the culture and heat lol!!! It is a dream come true that I'm here and there's no where else in the world I would rather be!!
LOVE YOU ALL!!!
