FIRST MISSIONARY CHRISTMAS

MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS!! My first Christmas as a missionary is over. It's definitely different and has it's pros and cons but it was great to be able to focus on Jesus Christ and serving others. "Nothin else in the world that I could want."

I've started doing this thing where I take a freezing cold shower every morning so that no matter how bad the rest of the day is, and no matter what happens, nothing will be worse than the freezing cold shower. This week our kitchen flooded twice because our washing machine us broken I guess. I got out of my freezing shower and my roommate goes, "hey I thing the washing machine's leaking." And I walk in the kitchen and there's an inch of water on the floor lol. We cleaned it up with towels and the repairman came over and said he fixed the washing machine, but the next morning, the same thing happened. We got innovative and made our own shop-vac to vacuum all the water with a garbage can, a plastic bag, and a vacuum. It worked good and it was pretty lit.

We went out to eat the other day with the district and while we were eating, this guy who was probably like 70, came up to us with his wife and he was a member and started talking to us. He looked over at one of the Sister missionaries that we were eating with and he said, "woah, I'd join the church if you asked me." I was like bro you're standing with your wife and you're like 70 hahaha. It was so funny and no one knew what to say which made it so awkward.
On Christmas Eve we found this super cool dude named Aaron. We were at the park, and we were supposed to be home in two minutes, so we started packing up our stuff to leave, when this guy goes, "hey are you guys religious." We told him yes and that we believe in Jesus Christ a d he got sooo excited and came over and sat with us. He told us how he was a part of a gang since he was 6 years old and he is tatted up from head to toe and got caught in his gang when he was 18 and served 8 years in jail. He said he found Christ two years ago and has turned his life to Christ and has an awesome story. We told him about how we're missionaries and about how we leave our family and friends for two years and he could not believe it. He was like, "no way are you freaking serious, you guys are the shiz let's freaking go boys, that's what's freaking up." Except he was saying freaking and shiz lol. We talked to him more about the church and when I told him how I'm going to Peru to serve and how we're a worldwide church he jumped out of his seat from excitement and said, "no freaking way are you serious, I freaking love you guys, this shiz is crazy." Anytime we said something about the church he was so excited and couldn't believe it haha. He was sooo excited when we said we'd come back and teach him and we have an appointment with him tomorrow!! It was a miracle that we were in the right place at the right time cause we were supposed to be home already and I'm so glad we found him!!
We went to a family's house for Christmas dinner which was great. We had two Wards of church and while I was at church, I felt pretty lonely and home sick and was wishing I was home when a voice in my head said, "there are people here who are lonely by accident, go find them and talk to them." I know it was the Holy Ghost and I got up and shook everybody's hand, and talked with the people who were at church alone on Christmas and it was my favorite part about Christmas. It's so important to have the Christlike attribute of looking outwards, rather than looking inwards.

Spiritual thought: I absolutely love teaching people about the Atonement of Jesus Christ because some people think that they have sinned too much and are too sinful to repent. That is absolutely not true. The Atonement is for anyone and any sin and you are NEVER too lost to be forgiven. It's a gift that has been given to us, and we can choose to accept or deny the gift. Our mission president said, "be repenters." I love this because we need to repent every single day and that is how we accept Jesus Christs gift.
Merry Christmas, I love you all and miss you all so much!
