SO MANY CACTI!!
Hey guys I'm here in Phoenix, Arizona and I just finished my first week!! Sorry this will be a long email cause so much happened this week! Since my last email, I finished MTC and flew to Arizona and i's been so wild and soooo much fun I swear I'm not kidding!! So I finished MTC and spent Halloween there which actually was really lame because we just had to pack all day and we didn't even realize it was Halloween until we saw little kids trick or treating in the neighborhood which was so cute. But my roommates helped me carve a pumpkin which was sooo fun! And a couple days before I left, a huge group of missionaries from the building knocked on my door and asked me to eat this super spicy hot sauce cause they know I'll do anything if I'm dared to do it and I do not react well with spice AT ALL! So obviously I did it and it was a bottom 5 decision of my entire life. They gave me four times more than everyone else and I nearly called 911 cause I thought I was gonna die. It was called Da Bomb hot sauce and I thought it was the end of me. I threw up nonstop for about thirty minutes while bawling my eyes out, but that wasn't the worst part... it was that night and the next day which were maybe the worst 24 hours of my life. I was getting up in the middle of the night all night throwing up because it didn't set well in my stomach. My mom gets really mad when I say gross stuff in my emails so I won't go into details too much about it, but all I'm gonna say is that tye next day, I was in the bathroom 7 different times all before noon and all heck was breaking loose in that bathroom. I even had to leave my initiatories session early cause I was on the verge of death. Anyways I won't goose into detail, but it was awful but it was also a great way to end MTC!
I got to Arizona with all my Idaho Falls homies which was soo cool! I got my trainer and he's pretty cool! We have a lot of fun and my roommates are also really fun and we make it such a good time out here. I genuinely LOVE it out here and my favorite thing is just meeting new people and seeing the gospel change their lives and seeing them absorb the information! ITS AMAZING! We got a lady on date to be baptized already too!! It was so cool to ask her if she'd like to be baptized and such a relief when she said yes and were so hyped! We have a ton of other people who are progressing super well and we're gonna ask them to be baptized soon too and I'm so excited!! I'm gonna fit 2 years worth of work into a 5 month mission in Arizona!
I also have a cool story about my friend that I met, Mitchell, it's kinda a long story so I don't blame you if you don't read the whe thing, but it's awesome. We knocked on Mitchell's door the other day and we was sooo nice and let us in. He showed us how he was cooking up a surprise dinner for his girlfriend and how excited he was to show her (it was top Ramen lol). We talked to him and his girlfriend about the restoration and Joseph Smith and it just clicked in his head and he just absorbed it. He loved it and believed all of it and we have him a Book of Mormon and he said he'd love to read it. He told us some trials in his life about trying to overcome drug addiction, he has a paralyzed hand which males work hard, and he had two days to move cause he couldn't afford rent. I had such a strong feeling to offer a Priesthood blessing and I did and he was so happy to hear me say that an said yes. I gave him and his girlfriend Priesthood blessings and they were both about to cry and were so grateful and the spirit was so strong. Anyways, here's the plot twist. A couple days later (yesterday), my comp and I are riding our bikes and pass a homeless man with a garbage bag of stuff and while we were passing, I noticed it was Mitchell. I immediately stopped and asked what's going on. He said he left his girlfriend because she was toxic and all this stuff and he wants to quit drugs but she doesn't so he left. She took all his stuff and all he had was a garbage bag of stuff. The spirit was so strong the whole time and he was SO POSITIVE. He was talking about how everything's OK and God's watching out for him and I told him that he's got this and there's only one place to go from rock bottom, and that's up. We had a great talk with him and helped him get set up in a church rehab place and he really wants to be baptized and he's AMAZING and I love him. He told us to go check up on his girlfriend qnd make sure she's OK but he said don't tell her that I saw you guys and we said OK. We went to her house and she opened the door and she was like, "hey guys did you see Mitchell" and we just played dumb lol and she said "oh sorry, Mitchell just left to take some boxes to our new house and he'll be back in like thirty minutes, can u guys come back either later tonight or tomorrow so we can have a lesson". My and my comp are so confused cause Mitchell told us he just left her and she says he's coming back but we think she was either really spiked on drugs or lying so we said we couldn't come back either says and she said "OK no worries, we're gonna come to church this week", so we sent her the address and it was so weird. Anyways, that was really weird but super cool that we ran into Mitchell when we did. I know that God put us in his path so we could see him and talk to him and it was a miracle. I love it here, even though the whole city smells like weed and stinks, it's so much fun!!
Spiritual thought: Matthew 14 14-31
This is when Peter walks on water to walk to Jesus and then he sinks. He steps out of the boat and starts walking on water towards Jesus. He sinks because for a second, he took his eye off of Christ and noticed all the commotion and stuff going on around his so he sunk. Meber take you eye off of Christ. No matter what is going on around you, or the commotion, or the winds, and the trials, look towards Christ, and he will strengthen you, and you can walk on water.
