BIKE CRASH PART 3!!!
Whats up Happy late Thanksgiving guys!! I definitely had a crazy Thanksgiving! Me and my roommates did a competition to see who could gain the most weight from Thanksgiving and the loser had to do the dishes and we had to meals back-to-back. It was absolutely awful and I've never eaten more food and never wanted to die more. I gained 10 pounds on the dot and I ended up winning. Right after I weighed myself, I sprinted to the bathroom and I was throwing up all night. It was an awful night, but at least I didn't have to do the dishes. I had another bike accident this week which was pretty brutal. I was riding my bike the other day and literally out of nowhere, my back tire just fell off. I was just sitting on the bike and all of a sudden I just fly backwards off the bike right onto my bike and I was so confused and then I saw my back tire just rolling away. I'm pretty sure some set me up cause there's no way it just fell of like that. It scuffed up the back of my shirt real bad and it hurt really bad too but I've excepted that I just have bad luck on bikes and it's a part of my life now.
It's so weird cause ever since I've got in the mission field, whenever I wash my hands at a members house, i can actually tell a difference between Bath & Body Works soap from other soap and it's so much better. I feel like I'm maturing cause I can feel a difference in the soap, it's just so much softer on my hands and the consistency is mucho mejor.
I also accidentally made a slightly racist comment I think. I was at a stoplight with my roommates and saw the lady in the car next to me and I thought she was Hispanic and my roommates did too so I decided to try my Spanish with her and said "Hola como esta" I didn't hear what she said so I said "lo siento no puedo oírle, mi Español es muy mal." Then she said "I'm not Mexican I'm Thai." I felt so embarrassed and said sorry and she laughed and then we sat at the red light awkwardly waiting for it to change. It was not a good time.
Anyways, we met this dude names Lester this week and it was so cool!! He's a refuge from Liberia and he said his whole life was awful. As a refuge, he would have to dig in the sand to find water, and hunt lions and buffalo to survive, and then he came to America and got married and had kids and he's now trying to be a doctor but his wife just divorced him and took the kids so he's in a bad spot. We had an amazing talk with him and told him how much his Heavenly Father loves him and knows what he's going through. He had him read 2 Nephi 2 to help him too and as we talked to him, he states smiling more and more, and everytime we told him of God's love and Jesus's love, his smile grew. Towards the end he said "do you guys wanna know why I let you come over tonight" we said ya and he said, "I haven't met with missionaries in months and I totally forgot about the missionaries until yesterday. Yesterday, out of nowhere, the thought of the missionaries came into my head and I remembered talking to them and it was the first time in months that I thought of them. I had no idea where the thought came from cause it was out of nowhere. I almost picked up the phone and called you guys but I decided not to. The next day, you guys texted me, the day after I thought of you guys. I know God placed that thought in my head and whatever you guys have to say, must be true, so I canceled my plans tonight for you to come over and I can feel the truth in what you say to me." It was soo cool!!! At the end of the lesson he was smiling and said "thank you guys so much, I feel so much more peace and joy now." Literally it couldn't have been better, he was such a great guy.
We also went and talked to Jonavaughn the other day and his friend Kendall was over and apparently they both played football at UNLV. They said that right before we got there they were talking about how they don't think that everything about Jesus Christ is in the Bible and that there had to be another book. I said "well, let me tell you about the Book of Mormon" hahaha it was so cool. We had a super cool talk with them and they were blown away by what missionaries do and how we leave for two years and we're meeting with them again soon.
Spiritual thought: 3 Nephi 11. This is one of my favorite chapters in the Book of Mormon and I've studied it the past week. Jesus Christ comes to righteous people who survived all the storms and earthquakes that happened when Christ died. He talks to them about his atonement and baptism. He gives them authority to baptize and every single verse is straight doctrine. Baptism is so important and that's why we wanna baptize as a missionary. You're following the example of Christ and it shouldn't be taken lightly. If you build your foundation on Christ, your foundation will not fall.
I love you guys and miss you a lot!
