I MISS YOU ALL!!
Hey what's up guys! I have been here at the MTC for just over two weeks and Tuesday marked the one month anniversary of becoming a missionary! This past month has been so crazy and I have learned so much. Not much happened this week but I'll try and think of some stuff lol.
Somehow, I think the food here is getting worse. It wasn't bad the first week but it's getting worse. Monday night for dinner, me and my comp showed up late for dinner, so we basically just got all the leftover dinner. I was handed a plate of what looked like canned cat food with a side of uncooked rice, pickled radish, and pickled lima beans. This was all there was available to eat and when I went to sit down, everyone was looking at me and my comp to see our reaction when we ate it. I was confused why everyone was staring until I took a big bite of the lima beans and radish. It was the most horrendous taste of my entire life. I immediately threw up all over my plate of dinner and was dry heaving for a couple minutes and everyone in the cafeteria was staring and laughing. It was the most sour thing I've ever eaten which was so weird. It tasted like it had been soaking in a bucket of Warheads and rotten grass for months. I then left on an empty stomach from the cafeteria but I put the lima beans and radish in a cup to have the boys in my district try it. On my way to the dorm, I took a little sniff of the cup and just from the smell of it, I threw up in the nearby bushes nonstop for about 5 minutes. I then got to the dorm and had one of the kids, Elder Owens, smell it. He took a whiff of the cup and immediately threw up his orange juice from dinner in a garbage can. Me and him then took turns throwing up into the garbage can for about fifteen minutes while the other guys recorded it. For the rest of the night, I went around convincing guys in our building to try the beans and watched them gagging and throwing up and ended up being pretty funny. I can't believe that in the future when I'm asked what the worst food I had on my mission in Peru was, I'm probably gonna tell them it was that meal at the MTC.
Other than that, not a lot has happened this week. One of our Spanish teachers, Hermano Slaughter just had his last day with us yesterday which was sad. The gift of tongues is for real, he and my other teacher have taught us so much more than I imagined I'd learn here.we had a member of the 70, Elder Nielson, talk to us Tuesday and it was an amazing talk. He basically taught us how to be a disciple of Christ as a missionary and how to be an effective missionary. It was an amazing talk and I feel like I had so much to take away from it.
I also find out my reassignment mission tomorrow since I will not be able to go straight to Peru. My visa is wayyy backed up so I'll probably be there for like 5 months. I'm really excited to find out and you might see me do a FaceBook live around 11:30 tomorrow when I find out!!!!
I miss all you guys so much and think about all of you all the time! I'm doing amazing here and can't wait to go and serve and change people's lives! GOD SPEED!!!
